We're very lucky.
Jack is the sort of child
we all assume we'll have
when we decide to have children,
and the sort of child
less experienced parents
congratulate themselves for.

Tuesday, Mar. 16, 2004 - Mamma

Lilypie 4th Birthday Ticker

Jack is an "easy" baby. He really is. He wants to please us, and he's willing to work pretty hard at it.

But now that he's mobile, he adds a whole new layer of complexity to our world, wanting to please us or not.

As an example, one of his favorite games is chewing on the furniture. He knows he's not supposed to do that, but if feels soooo good! So, as he contemplates gnawing on his "big boy chair" or the table next to Dad's chair he gets a very serious look on his face and shakes his head "no" adamantly...and proceded to gnaw anyway. But if Dad or Mamma says his name sternly, he turns a brilliant smile on us, and then crawls away to find something else to do. I guess he knows that he's not allowed to chew on the furniture -- but he still needs help with the self-discipline part. Goofy boy!
