We're very lucky.
Jack is the sort of child
we all assume we'll have
when we decide to have children,
and the sort of child
less experienced parents
congratulate themselves for.

Lilypie 4th Birthday Ticker

New Tricks

I love this stage!

Jack has reached the point where he loves to help!

Rod had to take the car in for repair ($500 worth - ick!) on Wednesday, and so he wanted to clean it up beforehand. Jack hung out with him in the back seat, systematically picking up the dropped crackers and cheese and raisins, and cheddar bunnies that lived under his car seat and dropping them into the trash bag while Dad vacuumed the floor.

Last night, while Dad was frantically prepapring for a client meeting today, he realized that he needed a compass -- one of those things you use to measure and drw circles. Since he really couldn't spare the time, Jack and I went out to buy one for him. (Well, yeah, and a few scrapping supplies, too. Why do you ask?)

When we got home, I handed the compass (all prettily boxed up -- no danger) to Jack and asking him to bring it to Dad. You'd have thought I'd put him in charge of the Royal Troops! He grinned broadly and strutted proudly over to Dad to give him the prize.

I love this age when not only do they love to "help" -- but they start to get really, really good at it!

Oh, and a note for those keeping track: German is the correct language for geometry (and naming shapes). Japanese is the correct language for art (and naming colors), and French is the correct language for mathematics (and counting). From "The World According to Jack".

Note 2: Oh, and "Jack" is now pronounced "John".

Well, Mamma and Dad are being hard to train, but Jack says "I John" when asked his name. So, there you go. And I thought his name was Isaac Timien John.
