We're very lucky.
Jack is the sort of child
we all assume we'll have
when we decide to have children,
and the sort of child
less experienced parents
congratulate themselves for.

Lilypie 4th Birthday Ticker

Sick baby ... again

Poor budgie boy!

He was looking so tired yesterday that, even though he took a very late nap and Dad predicted that he'd be late to sleep, we started the bedtime routine by 7:30.

By 8:30, he was ready to sleep, and actually cried from exhaustion as we put on his diaper and pajamas after his bath.

We went to bed, and he held on tight to to me as he dozed off. And hour and 10 minutes later, I woke up from a doze to find that he was still clutching me.

At about 10, the poor baby woke up very, very feverish. I got him a drink of water and then took his temperature. 39! (That's 103F to the rest of us...)

I watched carefully, because I didn't want to miss the 104 that would gain us entry to the Emergency room, but it never manifested.

We dosed him with acetaminaphen and gave him water and then I just rocked him as he lay limp in my arms for about an hour. Eventually he fell asleep, and I changed his daiper and put him back to bed.

He stayed warm -- but not overly hot -- all night and slept restlessly.

Poor boy. Today, he's still feverish, but he's being a little imp and is cheerful and as curious as ever.

So proud!

This isn't strictly about Jack, but we're so proud that we just have to crow!

Jack's beautiful and talented sister-in-law, Tash, has won the Australian Film Institute's award for the best young actor of 2004!

The AFI Awards are very prestigious, sort of the Australian equivalent to the Academy Awards, and it's quite an honour for her to have won!

Wicked brilliant, Tash!
