We're very lucky.
Jack is the sort of child
we all assume we'll have
when we decide to have children,
and the sort of child
less experienced parents
congratulate themselves for.

Lilypie 4th Birthday Ticker

Welcome to Day Light Savings Time!

I've never been a big fan of day light savings time. When I became the mother of a toddler for the first time, I became even less thrilled. Now that I am the mother of a toddler and I need to get to work on time, I think Dante missed a ring of hell.

Well -- maybe not that bad.

But for the third night in a row, Jack has nursed almost to sleep at bedtime. And then sat up, and cheerfully announced, "No. No seep."

Cute.

But by the third night, it was losing some of its cute factor to Mamma's exhaustion. I tried patiently to explain that my alarm would go off at the same time no matter what time I went to bed, and that I was already sooo tired.

Jack listened ever so sympathetically, he kissed me. And then he chirped "Up now."

I refused. So, by the time Rod got home from work, Jack was lying in my arms crying his frustration to the Uiverse.

That was midnight.

Rod took Jack and did whatever it is those two do in the wee small hours, and I went to sleep only to hear the alarm go off what seemed 10 seconds later.

Welcome to day light savings time. I expect that we'll have adjusted our sleeping schedule, by, oh, October.
