We're very lucky.
Jack is the sort of child
we all assume we'll have
when we decide to have children,
and the sort of child
less experienced parents
congratulate themselves for.

Lilypie 4th Birthday Ticker

Haven't had a lot to say lately. Largely because it seems that whenever I'm not at work, Rod is -- so we're all exhausted.

Jack is making steady progress on walking and can now hold onto our legs and walk quite a ways -- even around corners -- with us. He can also hold on to our hands, though he doesn't make it very far one-handed. No indication that he intends to take that first real stroll on his own any time soon, though.

There is also some indication that Jack has started to really internalize English. He has started to talk in his sleep in understandable English. (Mainly "all done", but no one expects scintillating froma sleeping angel...)

We have had an "incident" that has resulted in Jack losing most of his books indefinitely. He was caught intentionally shredding his favorite book -- the ne we have already bough several new copies of! That means that if it's not a hard board book, Jack can't read it unsupervised. He lost *all* of them for 24 hours -- but this indefinite thing is more a protection for our book budget than anything else. Sad. He really enjoys many of the paper books.

Our little guy is also on an eating binge. He has been packing away meals twice the size of his usual, and then coming back for more an hour later. I guess he's about to grow -- but it was kind of startling when we shared a plate and he ate more than I did -- and then wanted more food! Yikes!!

We are also revisiting the "noise as entertainment" stage of life, where any room in which he can cause an echo has become a soundbooth for shrill experiments, and any room at all is fair game for echo trials. Fortunately, he is pretty intiutive and hasn't tried it yet in the hospital when we're there for visitations. ( I doubt we'd be welcomed back if he got too loud.) I hope this stage doesn't last too long.

Because Dad has been at work pretty much any time I haven't been for a while now, I am sooo behind on my e-mail! If you've mailed me recently and haven't heard back, you probably will, as soon as Rod gets a day off.

More late-- and I hope it'll be more coherent then.
