We're very lucky.
Jack is the sort of child
we all assume we'll have
when we decide to have children,
and the sort of child
less experienced parents
congratulate themselves for.

We have Attained Altitude!

Jack's current favorite!

Are you my Mother?

by Phillip D Eastman

Well, just in time for the Summer Solstice, Jack has learned to stand on his own. As I have mentioned before, he's been able to stand on his own for a while. But up until now, he only did it by accident when he was so engaged in something that he let go with both hands without realizing it.

On Saturday morning, though, as I tried to sit him down on the diaper changing table, he straightened his legs and stood up. I gently let go -- and he stood, looking extremely proud of himself!

Then, he sat down and wanted to do it again -- so we did.

He hasn't quite gotten up there on his own yet -- but his hold on my legs has gotten lighter and lighter and he's been practicing a lot lately. I think we may have a walking boy soon.
