2004-01-27 - Mamma
My little genius! Well, OK, that's hyperbole -- an exaggeration, if you will. Nonetheless, we were very impressed with Jack last night. I tried to nurse Jack down, but, while he was happy to nurse, he refused (again) to go to sleep until Daddy came to bed. So, I got up, and brought him out to the parlour and mentioned to Rod that I wanted to go off to the store. (I am clearly losing my battle with a flu virus, and felt the need for some juice.) He said that would be fine, and I started getting ready to go ... put on my day clothes and washed my glasses -- and before I got to the shoes and coat and keys that would signal that I was going out, Jack started waving bye-bye to me. Very tentatively at first (I never go out at night -- Daddy almost always runs that sort of errand, and I hadn't reached the obvious stage yet) and then once I said "That's right, Mamma's going out" he waved with much more assurance and enthusiasm. Our little genius obviously understands at least some of what he's hearing at only 8 months old! (OK, maybe this is perfectly normal for the age. But it seems very impressive to Mamma.
